Many tube mills offer a low cost alternative to seamless tube by producing a welded tube and then cold drawing over the weld. For coiled tube, some mills join shorter lengths together with orbital welds in an attempt to approach our length capability.

Although it may look similar to the untrained eye, the changes in the microstructure as a result of welding cannot be overcome by subsequent cold working and heat treating. In fact, this method can mask flaws in the weld seam resulting in failures under pressure or premature corrosion.

Camdel Metals offers a "True Seamless" product with no welds at any point in the manufacturing process. The integrity of the tube and its resistance to corrosion are superior to any welded or welded/drawn tube.
